History:
The Thales was designed to expand on the Daedalus, carrying the same crew compliment,
but with expanded accomodations, providing a huge amount of comfort. The armament
was expanded upon as well, with a pair of aft lasers added, and the ship's atomic
missiles were the improved FNM-3, also known as the "Spartak", making the Thales
a somewhat superior exploration and combat vessel.

History:
The Hipparchus Class is a large freighter, capable of hauling around a very large
amount of cargo for the time. The vessels were capable of much higher warp speeds than
every earlier Earth design in history, and were used for almost a century before the last
ships were retired in 2269, some of them were totally automated in their later years,
such as the ore ships sent to Delta Vega one every twenty years.
The Hipparchus was also the ancestor of a couple of later freighter designs,
most notably the Pershing Class of the mid 23rd century.

History:
The Perseus Class is the first Starfleet vessel to use the Warp 5 Engine,
capable of reaching very high speeds crews of the earlier Daedalus
and Hercules Classes could only dream of. Warp 5 was almost completely
impossible to obtain before, and the Perseus constantly moved at Warp 5
for up to two and a half hours at a time, with the regular cruising speed
being at Warp 4, a very high speed for the time.
The Perseus was also more heavily armored than any previous ship,
and fitted with a huge arsenal of lasers and atomic missile racks,
enabling it to be ewffective at both combat and exploration.
Two interesting bits of history are as follows: the first being that
in the 2180s, the prototype U.S.S Perseus was sent out toward the Beta
Quadrant on a four-year mission of exploration when the one crew member out
of stasis, the captain, A veteran of the Earth-Romulan War named Jackson Archer,
sent the perseus towards the Orion Colonies, then let the crew out of stasis
and lied to them about how the Orions were becoming far too dangerous,
about how they were becoming a major threat to Federation shipping, and fooled
them into launching attacks on Orion stations and colonies. The attacks
were stopped by Captain Daniel Macintyre and the crew of the Daedalus,
which resulted in Archer being relieved of command and sent to Starbase 14
for court martial.
The second thing to occur would be the time-dilation caused by the stardrives
of a few Perseus class ships, causing them to be hurled several decades foward
in time. The vessels were discovered by the U.S.S Constitution and Enterprise,
and taken to the nearest starbases for retiring of the Perseuses and readjusting
the crews to life in the 23rd century.

History:
The Sealance Class Light Cruiser was one of the first classes of vessel to use
the Warp 6 Drive, an engine which first saw use on the Thousandth Mile Class
of vessel, and it was quite capable of both exploration and combat. 19 were
built, and they were used continually until their retirement in 2269.
One particular thing to note about this class is that one of it's number,
the U.S.S Constellation, NCC-1017, was heavily altered to Constitution Class
specifications in 2246, as part of an attempt to get a large number of Warp 7
and 8 Drive vessels into service as quickly as possible, the most unusual
case of a conversion in Federation history.

History:
The Catalyst Class was designed for two roles, the first being to explore the edge of the
Gamma and Delta Quadrants, the second being to protect the perfection of the Federation.
A descendant of the Sovereign Class, the Catalyst is equipped with extremely powerful
Phasers and Quantum Torpedoes, as well as good engines that allow for very high maneuverability,
as well as provide enough power for the weapons and shields.
As more advanced vessels like the Interseer and Spielban Classes came online, the
Catalyst began to fall into disuse, until finally the last vessels were retired in the 2520s.

History:
The Socrates Class has been a capable early scout ship for the UESPA, charting a number
of star systems. It can cruise at Warp 2 for years at a time, and in addition to being
able to land on planets, has a small hangar deck carrying two shuttlecraft, typically
Class A. Although not intended for serious combat, in 2156, the vessels were refitted
for use in the Earth-Romulan War to uncover hidden Romulan squadrons and bases.
The Socrates Class, being too old for continued exploration, has been retired,
their old mission being taken over by faster vessels, such as the Daedalus Class.

History:
The Orion's Belt was one of the many cruisers developed by Starfleet in the late 23rd century,
a powerful combat vessel with decent exploratory and cargo hauling capabilities. Although
not terribly notable, the Orion's Belt class ships served starfleet well until the 2340s.

History:
The Fontana Class was developed in the 2270s as another exploration vessel to add
to Starfleet's growing survey fleet. One of the uncommon mono-nacelle designs, the
Fontana was also among the first classes to regularly use fore and aft torpedo launchers,
and in the late 2280s, the Fontanas were also among the first vessels to use the M-7
control computer, and due to the success of the Excelsior's Transwarp, and due to
the need for greater power for the Fontana, a single FTWA-1 replaced the FWF-1,
giving the vessel a greater power supply closer to that of an Enterprise Class.

History:
The Russell Class was an advanced scout ship design which, alongside the Scylla,
was used to map distant systems of the Alpha Quadrant. Being one of the few later
scout designs with no torpedo launchers, the Russell was equipped with a very
lerge number of phasers mounted in the same pattern as on the Excelsior's saucer,
enabling it to defend itself against minor threats, or to slice apart asteroids
with careful precision.
There were no upgrades to the Russell, outside of a few extremely minor
lab upgrade, and the Russells were retired in the 2350s.

History:
The Copernicus Class was an attempt to create a long-range exploration vessel,
equipped with many combination hangar decks and laboratories, in addition to
the regular hangar deck at the aft section of the stardrive section.
Even though there were initially 20 of these light cruisers planned for
construction as early as 2241, due to the Constitution Class and several others
taking up a huge amount of resources to construct, only 5 were actually completed,
and when they were launched, they were immediately assigned to long-range exploration
in parts of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants some 150-450 light-years away from the
Federation's core worlds, where they performed well alongside the Constitution
and Cesario Classes for another seven years, until the Four Years War began,
at which point the Copernicuses had most of their extensive shuttle compliment
replaced with two squadrons of Starfleet fighters, of various models, which
enabled them to fight off Klingons in a number of remote areas. A refit was
planned which would add four wide arc lasers to the Copernicuses' already
somewhat decent firepower, for both full combat with naval ships, as well as
point defense against enemy fighters, which due to the ships being constantly
tied up with their temporary carrier mission, was not actually carried out
on any existing vessel.
After the Four Years War ended, the Copernicuses were given back their
extended shuttle compliment and reassigned to their long-range survey missions,
being refitted heavily, first with phasers and photon torpedoes, as well as
the new and very highly advanced FSI shield generator, a high-powered generator
with a trinary transducer. The short-ranged FP-3, deemed inferior for a full-sized
starfleet vessel (which also was what led to the Loknar Class going through another
refit), was replaced with the longer-ranged FP-2, and in the next decade, the
Copernicuses were refit extensively two more times, once in 2273, and the other
in 2277, and continued to serve as capable exploration craft until the 2290s.

carrying huge amounts of troops and equipped with a huge arsenal of Photon Torpedoes
with swivel mounts similar to those used on the Charger Class.

History: Designed for heavy fleet operations, the Hakaidas was one of the first
Tellarite-designed ships, and the usefulness of the design soon propelled the
shipyards of Tellar to a status equal to that of the Human, Alpha/Centauran
and Andorian yards.
Eight ships each were sent to the first, second, third, and fourth
fleets, and they performed well until their retirement in the 2320s.

History:
The Silver Spring Class was a small, four-man scoutship designed for long-range
surveys of stars very far from Federation core worlds. A hundred of the small
vessels were launched, and although the vessels started out with a few low
level laser cannons, they were later refitted in the mid-2260s to use phasers.
The last Silver Spring Class vessels were retired in the 2270s, as new
scoutships came online, and as the primitive mono-nacelle stardrives of the
Silver Spring were lagging seriously behind the newer Warp 8 and 9 engines
the newer scouts were carrying.

History:
The Midgard class, along with the Aegis class, was a fine example of Starfleet's
Heavy Frigates, a huge combat vessel capable of battling Kzinti or Tholian ships
to a standstill, and carrying troops to a planet, not many compared to later frigates
like the Chandley class, but the almost-hundred marines were capable of taking
out Kzinti bases.
Although the Midgard class was outdated and retired in the 2240s, the Midgards
were remembered as capable fleet vessels alongside the Lancaster, Fearless and
Quetzalcoatl Classes.

making use of advanced technologies developed by the Excelsior and Constellation Classes.
Although never very common, the small scoutships have done well on a large number
of survey missions thousands of light-years out from the Core Worlds.

History:
The Maxwell Class was one of the first scoutships launched by Starfleet, and it was one
of the first ships equipped with the now familiar saucer section. An enormous vessel
compared to many other scoutships of the day, the vessels, like the Thales Class Heavy
Cruisers, were very roomy and comfortable for the crews compared to vessels of twenty
years earlier, and their warp engines were among the last Warp 4.5 Drives, used on the
Comet Class, with exposed structural framework rings much like on the Daedalus Class,
a primitive aspect of Starfleet engine design that appeared in a few occasional classes
and was soon abandoned completely in newer designs in the 2190s. The Maxwells themselves
were retired in the 2200s and 2210s, unable to adapt to newer technology, except
for a few vessels which were sold to the Vulcan Science Academy.

History:
The Macpherson Class was an early scout ship constructed by the highly-exploration-oriented
team who worked on the Daedalus Class in the early 2160s. Abandoning the "Lollipop-and-Dumbbell"
oriented look of the Comet and Daedalus Classes, the Macpherson avoided some of the space
constraints of the Daedalus by having a very small crew compliment, with a large amount
of space dedicated to spare supplies for the ships' decade long surveys. Due to a very large
number of Daedalues coming online, and due to a large number of other exploration oriented vessels
coming online, only 11 Macphersons were built, and they were very heavily used until the early 23rd Century.

History:
The Huygens Class was the first new vessel class developed by designers from the new
United Federation of Planets Starfleet, and it was a slightly larger vessel than the
Daedalus, with a stretched stardrive, an enormous amount of spare supplies, and an
enormous crew of 250. Although the first 11 were quite successful at both combat and
exploration, it was much cheaper to simply refit and reuse a large number of older
United Earth vessels from before the founding of the Federation, with the existing
Huygens retired in the early 23rd century.

History:
The Brahe Class was developed as a long range Light Cruiser, equipped with the best
sensors and laboratory equipment, capable of exploring areas over a hundred light-years
away from Earth, although due to the cheap upgrades applied to existing Province
class vessels, and the sensor pod attachments on some Paris Class Light Cruisers,
it was decided to only build a half dozen Brahes and a small number of other new
craft, all of which performed well for decades, two vessels receiving an overhaul
in the late 2240s, fitted with shields, a new Warp 7 Drive, and an expanded rear
hull capable of carrying extra cargo or passengers, and the final vessel, the
Waterhouse, was refitted a final time in 2269, given a wide array of new systems,
although not given the same overhaul as the Enterprise and others, and remained
in service for another eight years, before being retired.

History:
The Shinobi Class was a small freighter in use by the United Federation of Planets
in the mid-to-late 23rd century, a high-speed freighter, capable of carrying tens
of thousands of metric tons of cargo while still retaining much of it's maneuverability,
a prime choice for dourier missions. The freighters were in use from 2265 to 2296,
when the last one was retired.
